- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1 cup water
- 2 cups sliced cucumbers
- 1/2 cup bourbon
- 1 tablespoon mustard seeds
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black peppercorns
- 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
Instructions
- In a saucepan, combine brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, and water. Heat over medium heat until the sugar dissolves.
- Add bourbon, mustard seeds, salt, black peppercorns, and crushed red pepper flakes to the mixture.
- Bring the mixture to a boil, then remove from heat and let it cool.
- Place sliced cucumbers in a jar and pour the cooled mixture over them.
- Seal the jar and refrigerate for at least 24 hours before serving.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, add more crushed red pepper flakes.
- These pickles can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
- Great as a topping for burgers or sandwiches.
