- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup sourdough discard
- 1/2 cup warm water
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon instant yeast
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the sourdough discard, warm water, sugar, and instant yeast. Mix well.
- Add the flour and salt to the mixture and stir until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf. Place it in a greased loaf pan.
- Cover the loaf and let it rise again for about 30-45 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bake the bread for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
- Let the bread cool on a wire rack before slicing.
Notes
- For a crustier bread, place a pan of water in the oven while baking.
- Feel free to add herbs or spices to the dough for extra flavor.
