Description

Experience the indulgence of ultimate breakfast poutine, featuring crispy fries, rich gravy, gooey cheese curds, and a perfectly cooked egg, all drizzled with creamy hollandaise sauce.

Ingredients

  • French Fries (frozen or homemade)
  • Gravy (homemade or store-bought)
  • Cheese Curds (or mozzarella as a substitute)
  • Eggs (fresh)
  • Butter (unsalted)
  • Lemon Juice (fresh)
  • Salt
  • Pepper (fresh ground)
  • Water

Instructions

  1. Prepare the French Fries: Either bake or fry the French fries according to package instructions or your favorite homemade recipe until crispy and golden.
  2. Make the Hollandaise Sauce: In a saucepan over low heat, melt your butter. In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and a tablespoon of lemon juice. Gradually add the melted butter to the egg mixture, whisking continuously until thickened. Stir in water until the sauce reaches a silky consistency.
  3. Cook the Eggs: In your frying pan, prepare eggs sunny-side-up or poached as preferred until the whites are set and yolks are runny.
  4. Assemble the Poutine: Start with a mound of crispy fries on a plate. Sprinkle fresh cheese curds on top and pour hot gravy over everything.
  5. Finish with the Eggs: Place the cooked egg atop the dish and drizzle hollandaise sauce over everything. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

Make hollandaise fresh for the best result and consider customizing with additional toppings like sautéed mushrooms or crispy bacon.
