Description

A perfect blend of savory steak, creamy mashed potatoes, and tender-crisp asparagus, creating a delightful dining experience.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 steaks (your choice of cut, such as ribeye, sirloin, or filet mignon)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 medium potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1 bunch of asparagus, trimmed
  • Garlic powder (optional for an extra flavor kick)
  • Fresh herbs (like parsley or thyme, optional for a finishing touch)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the steaks by seasoning generously with salt and pepper. Heat the olive oil in a heavy skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering. Carefully place the steaks in the pan; listen to that glorious sizzle! Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for a perfect medium-rare finish. Once done, transfer the steaks to a plate and let them rest for at least 5 minutes.
  2. Make the mashed potatoes by bringing a pot of salted water to a boil and adding the cubed potatoes. Cook until tender for about 15 minutes. Drain and return to the pot. Add the milk and butter, then mash until you achieve your desired consistency—smooth or a little chunky. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  3. Sauté the asparagus using the same skillet. Lower the heat slightly and add the trimmed asparagus. Sauté for about 3-4 minutes, sprinkling with salt and optional garlic powder until tender-crisp.
  4. Plate the dish by arranging the steak alongside a scoop of mashed potatoes and asparagus. Garnish with fresh herbs if desired.

Notes

Let the steak come to room temperature before cooking for even cooking. Mashed potatoes can be made ahead of time and reheated with a splash of milk.
