- 4 slices of cheese (American, cheddar, or gouda)
- 1 large sweet onion (Vidalia or yellow)
- Salt, to taste
- Pepper, to taste
- 1 tbsp vegetable or canola oil
Instructions
- Heat a cast-iron skillet over medium-low heat and add oil.
- Add sliced onions and cook until golden brown, about 10-15 minutes.
- In another skillet, heat more oil over medium-high heat.
- Shape ground beef into patties and season with salt and pepper.
- Cook patties for 3-4 minutes on one side until crust forms, then flip.
- Top with cheese during the last minute of cooking.
- Assemble the burger with the cheesy patty and caramelized onions.
