- 2 slices of bread (sourdough, white, or whole grain)
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, fontina, gouda, or havarti)
- 2 slices of crispy bacon
- 2 tablespoons blackberry jam
- 1 tablespoon butter
Instructions
- Cook the bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crispy. Drain and set aside on a paper towel.
- Butter one side of each slice of bread.
- Place one slice of bread, buttered-side down, in the same skillet. Layer half of the shredded cheese on top.
- Sprinkle the crispy bacon over the cheese. Spread the blackberry jam on top of the bacon.
- Add the rest of the cheese and top with the second slice of bread, buttered-side up.
- Cook on medium heat, pressing down slightly, until the bottom is golden brown and the cheese begins to melt—about 3-4 minutes.
- Flip carefully and repeat for the other side.
- Remove from the skillet, allow to cool for a moment, then slice in half and serve warm.
Notes
For variation, try different cheeses or add ingredients like caramelized onions or arugula.
