Description
Experience the essence of autumn with the Harvest Moon Burger, featuring a savory beef or plant-based patty glazed with a sweet apple-cider reduction.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef or plant-based burger
- 1 medium apple, diced
- 1/2 cup apple cider
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 4 whole wheat burger buns
- 4 slices cheddar cheese
- Lettuce and sliced tomatoes for garnish
- Optional: red onion slices
Instructions
- Combine apple cider, brown sugar, diced apple, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt in a small saucepan. Bring to a simmer over medium heat. Cook until it reduces and thickens slightly, about 10 minutes.
- Shape the ground beef (or plant-based alternative) into 4 equal patties, seasoning both sides with salt and pepper.
- Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until desired doneness.
- Place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty during the last minute of cooking and cover to melt.
- Toast the whole wheat buns on the grill for 1-2 minutes until golden brown.
- Assemble burgers by placing the cheesy patty on the bottom bun, drizzling with warm apple-cider glaze, and topping with lettuce, tomatoes, and red onions if desired.
- Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
Make the apple-cider glaze a day in advance for deeper flavor. Burgers can also be cooked in an air fryer or oven.
