Description

Experience the essence of autumn with the Harvest Moon Burger, featuring a savory beef or plant-based patty glazed with a sweet apple-cider reduction.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef or plant-based burger
  • 1 medium apple, diced
  • 1/2 cup apple cider
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 4 whole wheat burger buns
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese
  • Lettuce and sliced tomatoes for garnish
  • Optional: red onion slices

Instructions

  1. Combine apple cider, brown sugar, diced apple, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt in a small saucepan. Bring to a simmer over medium heat. Cook until it reduces and thickens slightly, about 10 minutes.
  2. Shape the ground beef (or plant-based alternative) into 4 equal patties, seasoning both sides with salt and pepper.
  3. Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until desired doneness.
  4. Place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty during the last minute of cooking and cover to melt.
  5. Toast the whole wheat buns on the grill for 1-2 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Assemble burgers by placing the cheesy patty on the bottom bun, drizzling with warm apple-cider glaze, and topping with lettuce, tomatoes, and red onions if desired.
  7. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

Make the apple-cider glaze a day in advance for deeper flavor. Burgers can also be cooked in an air fryer or oven.
