- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp active dry yeast
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 3/4 cup warm water
- 3 tbsp Za’atar spice mix
- 2 tbsp olive oil (for topping)
Instructions
- Combine the all-purpose flour, active dry yeast, and salt in a large mixing bowl until well blended.
- Add the olive oil and warm water, mixing until a sticky dough begins to form.
- Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until soft and elastic.
- Place the dough back in the bowl, cover it with a clean cloth, and let it rise in a warm area for about 60 minutes or until doubled in size.
- Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C).
- Punch the risen dough down gently and roll it out on a floured surface until about 1/4 inch thick.
- Place the rolled-out dough on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Spread the mixture of Za’atar spice and remaining olive oil over the rolled-out dough, ensuring even coverage.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are crisp and golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving warm.
Notes
For a bolder flavor, add a touch of extra Za’atar. Customize by using whole wheat flour or adding toppings like roasted vegetables.
